Backpacking

This week I took the opportunity to go backpacking with Cris. It was great! She survived her first ever backpacking trip! YAY! I think that the Lord was kind. This trip went along without most of the usual happenings of a backpaking trip such as: forgetting the fuel for the stove, stove not working, burning Rocky Top, (really, ask Zach V or Marshall,) downpours, crazy 20 degree nights in late spring or early fall, surprise snowstorms, dry water sources, or even having to make a fire with wet wood. It went amazingly well. We got to enjoy being together in the woods.

One of my favorite parts was this unnamed waterfall on Meigs Creek Trail. We stayed here and had lunch the first day and got to spend time with the Lord. I loved it. Cris did as well. I believe that the Lord met us.

We kept walking and actually spent our second night at the Elkmont campground with my family. It is really strange saying goodbye to family that we won't see for quite some time, potentially years. We've already said goodbye to Cris's family, and we will say goodbye to my family and all of our friends in our church family here in the next couple of days. It's strange. We are actually going to Romania. Crazy! The Lord has clearly been in this so far, so I trust that He will be with us as we go to the other side of the world to serve the church. Please pray that the Lord would continue to show His face to us.

One Week Till Departure

Hello! We leave for Romania one week from today! Our flight leaves at 2:30pm on July 1st. We talked to Razvan and Oana today about our apartment and we are working on getting them the deposit for it. Pray that this would work out (we had some problems yesterday at the bank). Our plans for the last week are to finalize details in preparation for leaving, as well as go backpacking (my first time), and spend time with Paul's parents this next weekend.

Please pray for our time on Wednesday and Thursday while we are backpacking. Our desire for that time will not just be to hike through the beautiful mountains, but to take a spiritual retreat and to enjoy the Lord and be refreshed as we prepare to leave. We desire to meet with the Lord and spend time with Him undistracted from this world and tasks that demand time.

Thanks for praying!

Support Praise

We want to thank the Lord and thank our supports for being faithful to partner with us in advancing the gospel. In the past couple months, when we have checked the support record, we were amazed to see how the amount basically doubled before our eyes in such a short amount of time. Thank you for responding to the Lord and desiring to give! This is evidence of God's work in your lives! We aren't where we need to be for our annual support, but we are confident that the Lord, who has provided thus far, will be faithful to us as the year continues.

Moving to the Cochrans'

I wanted to let everyone out there know that Cris and I have moved across Knoxville to move in at the Cochran's house right next to the church. We're definitely grateful for their hospitality and generosity concerning hosting us. We really do need a place to live. This is great.

Two weeks from Tuesday, we will be high above the Atlantic on our way to Romania. Please, please be praying for us. There are so many ways that our hearts are being tempted right now to doubt the Lord and His providence in our lives. We want to embrace all the changes that are happening in our life and rejoice! We have been granted the opportunity to go overseas and serve the Lord and lay our lives down for Him.

Also, Thank the Lord for Oana, a friend of ours in Romania. She has found us a couple of different living options, and will have a place for us to stay very soon.

So, praise the Lord! We are actually going to do this! I'm excited!
